A note about MADAGASCAR, JR 2018
Dear Friends,
We are THRILLED to begin this process of Madagascar, Jr. 2018! Here at In The Middle Drama we strive for the best quality in theatre education and in doing so we encourage you to help us keep a few things in mind:
A. We have a limited amount of time to make your child's theatre education a success and it is almost impossible to work around everyone’s schedules. If you have chosen this as your activity, and you start another activity after casting, please make this your priority. We will move along with or without you. If actors are missing rehearsals he/she will be missing valuable time preparing for the show. To ensure that you are making our play a priority, you are allowed only 3 missed rehearsals with Mrs. Rains having no prior knowledge of your absence (no-show). In addition, if your actor misses multiple rehearsals or mandatory rehearsals for scenes or musical numbers, he/she will be removed from that scene or number.
B. We ask that students wear the proper shoes to rehearsal. NO BOOTS (including cowboy, Uggs, or combat type boots allowed); NO FLIP FLOPS: NO HEELS (character shoes are the exception). You may bring your shoes to class and change. We suggest tennis shoes, character shoes, any kind of dance shoes.
C. We ask that you BE ON TIME. If your student needs to be late we would like to know in advance. If your student needs to be picked up early, we would like to be notified in advance. However, this is not encouraged although understandable for those juggling the play with other extracurriculars.
D. Parents are asked to wait outside the rehearsal areas. Parents or grandparents or otherwise should not sit in rehearsals. We do this for the attention of the students. We also ask that no tag-alongs be allowed in rehearsals. This includes both friends and siblings.
E. Almost 100% of the communication is done through our website, our Facebook Group, and by using the REMIND APP. If you do not have a valid phone number, it will be almost impossible to communicate. Please ask a family member to help. We try to keep communication open.
F. As full of requirements and rules as this note may sound, my production staff and I are all very flexible and do our best to communicate effectively. We love what we do and want this to be the best most enjoyable experience your actor and your family as a whole has ever been involved with.
We wish you the very best of luck (or broken legs as we say in the theatre) as you prepare for Madagascar, Jr. We are here to help you and want to see you grow in your art. Lastly, we hope that you will reach out to us with questions.
